Passenger Carriage G Scale

I have a rake of 5 of these. 4 straight resprays and 1 converted into a restaurant car. LGB quality they ain't but that's reflected in the price too. They are value for money and run reasonably well straight out of the box.

Invest in metal wheels and maybe replacement couplings (the couping spring is very stiff) and you have a rake of carriages that didn't cost the earth and run reliably even on the most poorly laid track.

My rake has been run on numerous garden railways without incident.

AN HONEST REVIEW. The negatives first (but they are far outweighed by the positives). If you are thinking of comparing these with LGB don't bother. The quality isn't there. Coaches are not very heavy so will benefit from some additional weight and replacing the wheelsets with metal ones will make them ride much smoother. My personal preference is to respray the roofs matt black as the satin finish tends to detract from what is quite a reasonable paint job (I bought the green ones as they looked more authentic from the videos I'd seen on Youtube). I intend to improve on the interior by fitting LED lights throughout and adding passengers. The plus side is I'll end up with a rake of 6 very acceptable coaches for the cost of just one from LGB. Exterior detail is good, if a little fragile, but if you keep the kids at bay they will serve you well. These really are a bargain at this price. If I can lay some extra track I am sorely tempted to buy another lot to make up a scale length train. The bogie open wagons look tempting too!
